Autumn Term 2024
Year 3 were thrilled to be starting Forest School. They tracked different animals by investigating their poo (plasticine). Children also enjoyed climbing rope bridges and getting creative in the mud kitchen.
The children have been working hard on their coding skills in computing. They have written their own algorithms to create outcomes.
In English this week, we started to look at Instructional Text.
The children worked in groups to identify the layout and grammar features of instructions and as a class we put together a success criteria for an effective set of instructions. Over the next few weeks, the children will put these elements together to produce their own set of instructions.
In science, year 3 have been identifying different skeleton types and how they are used for support, protection and movement. We have also sorted animal skeletons into groups, discussing patterns and similarities and differences.
In maths, we have been counting on and back in tens with two and three-digit numbers whilst thinking about this statement, ‘When I add 10 to any number, I only ever need to change the tens digit.’ Is this statement always, sometimes or never true?
In English, Year 3 have started reading ‘The Finger Eater’ and they have really enjoyed it. They have acted out parts of the story, identified words from the text that describe appearance and created Wanted posters.
